Matt grew up playing football, ice hockey, and lacrosse, and mentorship played a key role in his success as an athlete at the Division 1 level. Over his career he won two high school New York state championships, a gold medal with Team USA in the U-19 World Championships, and played in a Division 1 national championship . He played every game of his college career (63 consecutive games), receiving All American honors as a senior, and currently plays professionally for the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
